Mrs. Walker’s Blog Bits- January 24th:

Wow, it is hard to believe that we are entering the last full week in January as well as the 3rd quarter!  This school year seems to be flying by.  Last week was a messy one.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate and let us have no more interruptions.  Things are running along pretty smoothly here at Amelia.  Just wanted to pass along that we have been seeing more of the stomach flu virus, fever and sore throat going around.  So please just remind your little ones to be on top of things with the hand washing and try to get lots of rest!

I am very happy to announce that Mr. MacFarland is a DADDY!  His twin daughters were born on Friday.  Please welcome Elsie Rose weighing in at 5 pounds 6 ounces and her sister, Alice Louise, at 4 pounds 11 ounces to the Amelia Elementary family.  The girls and Mrs. MacFarland are doing wonderfully!

Amelia Staff News:

I am excited to announce that congratulation wishes are in order for the Zoldesy family on the arrival of baby Mara last night.  Mrs. Zoldesy and her new addition are doing well.  I am sure that Mrs. Zoldesy’s second grade students will be excited to hear of the news!

We have had some staff changes during the past couple of weeks that I would like to make you aware of.  Mrs. Skeen, our health aide, has decided that she would like to spend time with her grandchildren.  She wanted me to express to everyone that she will miss all of our wonderful students and families.  We wish her luck and look forward to her visiting in the near future.  Mrs. Deatherage, our librarian, has transferred into the nurse’s aide position.  She is very excited and happy to be able to take care of our students health needs. Mrs. Williams, an Amelia Elementary assistant, will be replacing Mrs. Deatherage as our new librarian.  Also, Mr. Gary Davis has come to us in the role as our head custodian.  He has enjoyed the transition to working in an elementary school as he has been at the high school for the past several years.  Miss Clarcy has transferred to the middle and high school and we wish her well.

I am very excited about all of the changes and feel confident that your children will be as well.

Have a great day!

Welcome Mrs. Johnston:

Mrs. Johnston, Administrative Assistant

A new face has been added at Amelia Elementary for the 2010-11 school year.  We are excited to have Mrs. Johnston in her new position as administrative assistant.  She busy each day ensuring that our students are safe and following procedures in the cafeteria and during arrival and dismissal times.  Additionally, Mrs. Johnston will be maintaining bus discipline (meeting with students and contacting parents as necessary) and helping Mrs. Walker with low-level discipline concerns.

We are thrilled to have Mrs. Johnston as part of the Amelia Family!
