Amelia Elementary

Staff & Services: Amelia has approximately 800 students enrolled in preschool through fifth grade and employs a staff of 37 full time teachers and health aide. Many families have chosen our school because of its moderate size, a growing parent support and involvement base, and the high quality education provided to our students by a highly qualified staff.  Eighty-two (82%) of our teachers hold a Master’s Degree. Amelia is committed to a strong literacy and mathematics program.  Specialized support in reading and math are provided in addition to regular classroom instruction. We realize that students learn in a variety of ways so we provide support in special education for qualifying students.

We staff the following additional service personnel:

  • Preschool Program
  • School Psychologist
  • Speech and Language Specialist
  • Reading Intervention Specialist

Amelia Elementary History: In 1870, land was purchased and a two room brick school was erected.  Soon after, two more rooms were added.  The building was expanded to eight rooms by 1924.  During this expansion, some grades were held at a local bank, the 100F Hall and the council meeting room.  In 1931 a new high school was built next to the existing building.  During the late 1950’s Amelia School consolidated with Withamsville and Mt. Carmel forming the West Clermont School District and a new Amelia High School was built.  The original high school became Amelia Elementary in 1962.  The elementary school remained at that site through the 2009-2010 academic school year.

Amelia Elementary Today: Through the generous support of the West Clermont tax payers, a bond issue was passed in 2007 funding the construction of a new elementary building.  We were pleased to open the new Amelia Elementary School on September 7, 2010 with an enrollment of 800 students in preschool through 5th grade.  Our school is designed for maximum learning use focused on comfort and a “green living” philosophy.  We are committed to an environmentally friendly approach by utilizing blogs to reduce paper and host a recycling bin for our school and community.

Amelia Elementary is one of eight elementary schools in the West Clermont School District located in a suburban area of southwestern Clermont County 2o miles east of Cincinnati, Ohio.
