Food Pantry Donations
Christmas is coming and many families in our community are struggling just to be able to provide the necessities to take care of themselves. So let’s show the community what being an Amelia Elementary Tiger is all about! From Dec 3rd to Dec 19th we will be collecting items to donate to the local food pantry. Preschool & Kindergarten: Baby Items (Diapers Sizes 4 & 5, Pull Ups, wipes, baby food, lotions, juice)

1st Grade: Band Aides, Tissues and Toilet Paper

2nd Grade: Toothbrushes & Toothpaste (For Both Kids & Adults)

3rd Grade: Lotion and Lip Balm

4th Grade: Shampoo, conditioner and hair products

5th Grade : Soap and Deodorant

All the items collected will be stacked on the stage in the cafeteria. If the stage is completely full by the 19th, the entire school will receive a popsicle party! Don’t forget to ask your family and friends to donate!

Holiday Shop
We are excited to have the Holiday Shop again this year! The Holiday Shop will open Monday, December 10 and run through Friday, December 14. The shop will also be open during the Breakfast with Santa this year! A classroom schedule will be sent home with students this week. A portion of this year’s proceeds will help the Amelia Elementary needy families.

Breakfast with Santa
Breakfast with Santa will be held at the Amelia High School Cafeteria on Saturday, December 15. There will be two sessions: 8:30-9:30 and 10-11am. Be sure to turn in your RSVP as space is limited. If you are in need of another RSVP form, please contact Beth Burcham at
Zak Morgan is Coming!
Zak Morgan will be entertaining our students on Wednesday and Thursday, December 19 and 20!! Who is Zak Morgan? Zak Morgan has been compared to Shel Silverstein and Dr. Seuss because of his wit and child friendly sophistication. Morgan began writing songs in high school. By 1991 he had released two singles that were played on over two hundred radio stations. In 1995, Morgan combined his humor, musical talents, and expertise in children’s literature and began writing the songs for his first CD, Bloom. His debut album was met nationally with rave reviews and many prestigious awards. With its success, Morgan was launched into a full time career in family entertainment. June 1, 2003 marked the release of Morgan’s second CD, When Bullfrogs Croak. The CD was nominated for a GRAMMY, a rare feat for an independent release. In 2007 he released his first DVD, ZakLand, with Hollywood director and producer Jay Silverman. In 2011 he released The Candy Machine, a concept album about temptation and the golden rule. Check him out at
Holiday Parties
Our Holiday Parties will take place on Wednesday, December 19 (Kindergarten A) and Friday, December 21. We encourage parents to contact your child’s head room parent to see what you can do to help. PTA will be providing an ornament craft for all students to complete during the party.
Be A Library Star!
Amelia Elementary and the Amelia Public Library are working together to encourage students to visit the library on a regular basis. We have started a collaborative program in which students log hours spent at the library for checking out books, doing homework or reading. The program will run from November 1 through April 2012. The student that logs the most hours per grade will receive a prize at the end of the school year. We encourage you to take your child to the library on a regular basis to participate in this program. Forms are available at the Amelia Library, just ask! The forms are kept at the library during the program.

Market Day
Don’t forget to place your Market Day orders! Market Day is a great way to feed your family AND support your school! This year’s Market Day goal is $1,500. With these funds, we plan to purchase Student Planners for grades 3-5 and plastic “Nikki Folders” for grades K-2.
Box Tops 2012
Be sure to keep clipping your Box Tops! We were able to bring COSi on Wheels to AE this year using the money we earned from Box Tops. Let’s keep it going for next year as well!
