Phone Message to be Sent at 5:00:

Happy Monday!  I am sending out an “all-call” tonight at 5:00.  I am letting you know that it is coming as it is the first time that I have used the messaging system this school year.  The following it the phone message that you will be receiving:

Good afternoon, this is Stephanie Walker, Principal at Amelia Elementary school.  I wanted to contact you in order to welcome you to the 2012-13 school year and to invite you to a few upcoming events.

First, parents are required to pick up transportation tags this week between the hours of 9-12.  All students will need a tag regardless of the mode of transportation.  Please make sure to have this taken care of as before the first day of school.

Secondly, Open House will be held on Thursday between the hours of 4:30-6:30 pm.  Feel free to visit the school at some point during that timeframe in order to meet teachers and visit classrooms.

The first day of school will be on Tuesday, September 4th.  School hours are 9-3:00.  Students will be allowed to enter the building at 8:45.

I can’t wait to see everyone at Open House and look forward to a wonderful school year.

Student Fee EZpay, NEW Option to Pay Student Fees:

West Clermont now provides parents an on-line system to pay student fees.  You may use your credit/and or debit card for the transaction. We cannot take credit card payments at our office, this is only available over the internet.  We will still accept cash and checks.

Parents who use the on-line system must first create an account.   You will need your child’s student ID number as part of the on-line registration.  This is the same number that children type in to access their cafeteria account each day.  Most existing students should have their ID number memorized.  If you do not know your child’s ID number, feel free to email me at and I will get it for you.  No personal information about your student is available online.  The district does not keep your credit card information on file and you will need to re-enter your credit card # each time you use the online system.

You can access the new on-line payment website by going to our district website (, then click on SPS EZpay link to be transferred over to the payment site.   Complete the registration page, and add your child’s names and ID numbers.  Once you have registered and created a password you will not need the student ID number again. You can check your child’s account balances as long as you have access to the internet.

Questions may be directed to the office or 1-866-MyEZpay (866-693-9729) or email at    Payments made online will be credited by the end of the next business day.   There is a $3 convenience fee charge to use this system.

We hope this will make payments easier and more convenient.

Kindergarten Schedules:

Here are the kindergarten schedules for the 2012-12 school year.  Note that Fridays are assigned (not an automatic rotation) in order to ensure equal number of days in session.  A hard copy will be sent by mail, but this will help with planning.

Welcome Letter Sent in Mailing with Class Assignment:

August 3, 2012

 Dear Amelia Elementary School Families,

I consider it a great honor to welcome you to the 2012-2013 school year at Amelia Elementary.  We are very proud of the educational progress that our students continue to make each year and feel confident that this school year will yield even greater success.

As an educator and parent, I believe that students are gifts filled with boundless potential. It is through the combined efforts of the school and parents that we can tap their potential to the fullest and prepare them for continued success beyond their elementary school years. As our journey begins this year, we encourage you to keep an open line of communication with your child’s teachers to foster a solid working partnership.  Teachers and parents each have unique perspectives on children and a wealth of information to share that can capitalize on strengths and help students thrive in the classroom.  We look forward to working with each of you as we share ideas to provide the highest quality educational experiences for all of our students.

I would like to invite you to Open House on Thursday, August 30, 2012 from 4:30-6:30 pm.  Open House is an opportunity for students and parents to tour the building and meet classroom teachers.

As you are aware, transportation has been cut to state minimum.   Bus transportation is only provided for students who live more than 2 miles from school and will only be provided from the child’s home address. Transportation is not provided from day care centers or baby sitter/relative’s houses or to go home with friends.   We will be functioning with the same system that was used during the 2011-12 school year.  Each student will have a backpack tag assigned based upon their mode of transportation (bike/walk, car, bus).  Regardless of the mode of transportation, parents must come to the school during the week of August 27-31st in order to assign and pick up new student tags.  The office staff will answer questions, and assign the appropriate tag between the hours of 9:00 am-12:00 pm.  If you are unable to attend during the hours provided, Open House will be another opportunity.  Based upon last school year, anticipate a long wait if you choose to take care of transportation at Open House.

I am continuing to communicate with families primarily through the use of social media.  Log in to the Tiger Tales official blog site at www.westcler/ae/ to sign up for an email subscription.  Additionally, we have a Facebook site.  Be sure to “friend” Amelia Tigers for updates regarding news, celebrations and upcoming events.

We look forward to working with you this year and the journey ahead!
