 Spring Book Fair
WOW! What a fantastic Spring Book Fair we had! Thanks to all of you who participated. Total sales (including our One 4 Books contributions): $9,168.40! With those sales we will receive $6,034.46 in “scholastic dollars” for our classroom wish lists!! A portion of these funds will also go toward the purchase of Weekly Reader for each student.

 Amelia Elementary Reds Day
Congratulations to Garrett Mason! Garrett was our Game Announcement winner! He and his mother will get to announce “It’s time to play ball” on the big screen during the Mother’s Day game on Sunday May 13th. His mother will also receive a Mother’s Day bouquet of flowers. Thanks to you all for participating in our school game day. See you at the game!

 Flying Pig Final Mile
All registered participants will receive their packets on Wednesday, May 2. We ask that all registered AE students meet at the entrance to Great American Ballpark no later than 11:30. Our group has been assigned white T-shirts, so please look for those. A course map will be distributed on Wednesday of next week, but will also be included in your packet. Each school will be assigned a location and “wave” start. That will be included in your packet as well. The start will begin at Noon and will continue in 5-minute start “waves”. Kids will go through finishers “chutes” for flow and safety. Group reunion area will be near the big Paddle Wheel monument on Mehring Way. See you at the starting line!

 Teacher Appreciation Week 5/7-5/11
This is your chance to say “Thank You” to your teacher for all he/she does!
MONDAY:  Hug/high five your teacher day!
TUESDAY:  Team up with teacher! Wear his/her favorite team’s colors!WEDNESDAY:  Hats off to teachers! Wear a crazy hat!
THURSDAY: Teachers rock! Draw a picture of your rock star teacher!
FRIDAY: Give your teacher a break! Be REALLY GOOD for the parent volunteers!SUPER SECRET PROJECT (Shhh! Don’t tell your teacher!)
Write a note, draw a picture, or create something special to tell your favorite thing about your teacher. Do your VERY BEST work! Put it in an envelope marked PTA and the teacher’s name and send it in by Tuesday, May 8. We’re going to use it for a special decoration for the teacher’s lunch!
Finally, DESSERT!! We usually ask for donations of dessert on the day of the luncheon. This year, due to the overwhelming response (and huge amount of food) received in the past, we are giving each grade level a day to bring something.
Please bring your desserts in to the office. Mrs. Knudsen will make sure it gets to the right location. Thank you for your help in making this week special!
2012 Fit-A-Thon
PURPOSE:  The Fit-A-Thon is our Spring school-wide fundraising program. Like last year, we will be selling $10 Community Discount Cards. This year’s profits will be used to fund a field trip for the entire school!
EVENT: This year’s Fit-A-Thon will take place Friday, May 18, 2012. Every participating student will complete the regular walk, but will have the chance to stop at stations along the way to Hula Hoop, Jump Rope and play a Dice Game.
DONATIONS:  Donations can be made in any amount, but we recommend a $5.00 minimum per sponsor. To receive a Fit-A-Thon Community Discount card, sponsors must pledge $10. Checks should be made payable to AE PTA.
COLLECTIONS:  We will collect sponsor donations Monday, April 30 – Friday, May 11. Please send all donations in one envelope to your child’s teacher when you have completed your collections. The deadline to turn in your donations is Friday, May 11.

PRIZES:  Everyone can win a prize by participating in the Fit-A-Thon! Start getting sponsors today and be part of the fun!

Market Day
Don’t forget to place your MarketDay orders! Amelia Elementary PTA receives 10% of all orders placed each month. March orders are due by May 17 and online orders are due by May 18. Pick up will be Thursday, May 24 from 7-8p.m. at the Masonic Temple located on Judd Road in Amelia.
