Mrs. Walker’s Tiger Bites- Week of September 19th:

Happy weekend Amelia families!  I hope that everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather.

It is hard to believe that we have already made it through our first two weeks of school.  During my Friday afternoon classroom visits, I saw lots of exciting learning going on:

  • Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Johnson’s 5th grade classes:  Science lesson creating hypotheses and discussions regarding what scientists do.
  • Mrs. Schneider’s 4th grade class:  Discussing constant versus independent variables in science regarding their sweet potato experiment.
  • Mrs. Marcotte’s 4th grade class:  Focusing on addition of multi-digit numbers during math class.
  • Mrs. Light’s 1st grade class:  Identifying words with the same beginning sound as in the word tiger.
  • Mrs. Wolff’s 2nd grade class:  Identification of greater than or lesser than numbers.
  • Miss Van Eman’s kdg grade class:  Sorting objects be different attributes.

Arrival and dismissal procedures are getting better each day.  All students are in the building by 9:02 each morning.  I will begin counting students tardy this week that arrive after 9:05.  Afternoon dismissal is complete each after by 3:30.

 Calendar of Events:

  •  Week of September 19th:  Preschool begins.
  • Kindergarten:  Monday/Wednesday students will attend school on Friday.
  • Thursday, September 22nd:  6:30-8:30 pm PTA Skating Party at Beechmont Location.

  1. Mrs. Walker,

My children attended AE last year and two years before that, and this year attend another school. I just wanted to take a moment to let you know how awesome the communication is from you and your staff at Amelia. I must say that this is something that I took for granted until this year. It is very tough to go from a dedicated and involved principle to one that has a HUGE lack of communication. I just wanted to say that there need to be more principles like you, that truly care about the families and students that attend their school. Your hard work and dedication are acknowledged. You are awesome, and because of you, your families and students will have a much more enjoyable environment!

    Sincerely,
    Ashley Boske
