4th Grade Underground Railroad:

Fourth grade students at Amelia Elementary integrated quilt making in their study of the Underground Railroad.   The slaves would create a secret code in their quilt pattern to assist the slaves on their journey to freedom.  Each pattern symbolized a location to create a map to the north.  Each student used fabric markers for their quilt square and Mrs. Koehler sewed the strips of fabric together creating a class quilt.  This past week, we raffled off each quilt to one lucky student from each homeroom.
