Mrs. Deatherage’s “Hello from the Health Room”

You have probably heard from your child how busy it has been in the health room lately. We have several viruses as well as strep throat circulating through the building right now. Please remember that if your child has a temperature of 100 degrees or higher they should not come to school until they have been free from fever for 24hrs.This is important to prevent the spreading of the illness as well as giving your child time to recover from their illness. Fever is not the only indicator that your child is ill and needs to stay at home. For example, one of the viruses we have been seeing causes vomiting and stomach pain but usually no fever. If your child has a sore throat or mild cough but no fever you may send  4 or 5 cough drops in a Ziploc baggie labeled with their name and a note giving your permission to take them as needed.

Just a reminder that when your child is not going to be at school PLEASE call the attendance line at 943-3804 by 10 am to report their absence.

As for me…I have enjoyed the transition into the health room from the library. The kids are great but I must admit that under the current cold weather conditions, I am dreaming of the warm spring months and healthy kids!

Wishing you much health and time to snuggle up with a good book and some quality time with your child! (Sorry couldn’t resist…once a librarian, always a librarian I guess)
