Tomorrow we are “Electing to be Drug Free” by dressing in red, white and blue!

“Wear Red for Red Ribbon Week”

Students wore red today in order to show their support to making a decision to be drug free!!  Tomorrow Amelia Elementary will be “Teaming up Against Drugs” by wearing their favorite teams t-shirt or jersey.

Tall socks, short socks, colorful socks, blue socks.  Silly socks, red and yellow socks… teachers in socks!  We had a great second day celebrating Red Ribbon Week!

Day 3 of our celebration is Wear Red for Red Ribbon Week…  Check back tomorrow for photo of AE students dressed in red!  🙂

Today’s Weather:

Staying Safe

This afternoon the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Clermont County.  The students were taken to their tornado shelter positions when the warning was issued and remained there until the warning was lifted.  The students and staff are to be commended for their exemplary behavior during this unusual occurrence.  If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Students celebrated the first day of Red Ribbon spirit week by “putting a cap on drugs.”  Students in all grade levels came to school wearing their favorite or a silly hat.

Tomorrow will be “sock it to drugs” spirit day.  Students remember to wear a silly or mismatched pair of socks!

Mrs. Walker’s Blog Bits… Week of October 25th:

Dear Amelia Elementary Parents;

Happy Sunday.  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  The weather was beautiful and the Walker household spent it on the soccer field…  I am sure that many of you were doing the same thing 🙂

We have another busy week ahead of us.  Amelia Elementary students and staff will be celebrating RED RIBBON WEEK.  This is a great way for everyone to celebrate the decision to stay drug free.  This would be a great time for you to reinforce the dangers of drugs with your children as we will be stressing the same message.  During each day of the week, we will be supporting our drug free message by participating in spirit activities.  I invite your child (and parent volunteers) to participate:

  • Monday:  “Put a Cap on Drugs”   Wear your favorite or silly hat
  • Tuesday:  “Sock it to Drugs”  Wear crazy or mis-matched socks
  • Wednesday:  “Wear Red for Red Ribbon Week”
  • Thursday:  “Team up Against Drugs”  Wear your favorite sports team gear
  • Friday:  “I Elect to be Drug Free”  Come to school dressed in red, white and blue

GIRL SCOUTS:   Any girl interested in joining the Girl Scouts may stop by the Amelia Branch Public Library Monday night between 7:00-8:00 pm.  There is a 12 dollar registration fee but financial assistance is available if needed.

BUTTER BRAID FUNDRAISER:    Just a reminder that the Butter Braid orders are to be turned in no later than Thursday, October 28th.  Late orders will not be accepted!

KROGER CARD FUNDRAISER:     We just received our first Kroger card fundraiser check…  It is for $223.84 for the period 9/5 – 10/2.  During that period, Amelia Elementary families loaded $5,596 onto the cards!!!  What a simple way to earn money for our school. Lets keep the Kroger dollars coming!

Keep checking the blog site for photos from Red Ribbon spirit week as well as of our first assembly (“Inspector I Wanta Know”) to be held in the new school.  As always, I appreciate your support in making it a great time to be an Amelia Tiger!

Have a wonderful week,

Mrs. Walker
