Amelia PTA Needs You…

Research tell us that parent involvement is one of the most important factors in the success of any school. The Amelia Elementary PTA is a non-profit organization dedicated to an excelling environment where parents can join teachers and the principal in creating a school environment that promotes learning and neighborhood pride. With tight school district budgets, the PTA is increasingly called upon to help finance more and more activities and programs at our school. By supporting Amelia’s fundraisers, you help sponsor such terrific programs like OAA spirit week and school assemblies as well as help to provide technology, equipment, supplies, and much more.  The PTA coordinates several fun events throughout the year that bring our students, families, and staff together to enjoy our wonderful spirit of community.  With the opening of the new building, it is a great time to try to make our school culture even stronger and prouder.  I am asking that you consider volunteering at some point during this school year.

Are you looking for a way to spend some time in our NICE NEW SCHOOL?  The PTA is in need of volunteers during the school day.  A few  upcoming opportunities include:
Copy People
We are looking for some copy help for the 2010-2011 school year.  Our copy day will be on Monday (time TBA) and will be for 2 hours.  You don’t have to commit to every week – even once a month would be great.  If you are interested, please contact Chris Gillespie @ for more information.
Newsletter Help
Do you like to use a computer?  Then we’ve got just the thing for you!  Each week the PTA produces a newsletter with information on activities/events that are going on at our school.    We are looking for an individual to type it each week.  You are welcome to use our design or make a new one.  All information will be provided to you, so it shouldn’t take more than 1 hour per week. 
Volunteers for the 1st Week of School
While the new school is very exciting, the first week or so will likely be very confusing learning all the new procedures and places to go.  PTA is organizing volunteers to help out at the beginning and end of the school day and lunch time during the first week of school.  The dates are September 7-10.  Approximate times are 8:00-9:00 am, during lunch from 11:00-12:40 and 2:30-3:15 pm.   Just a few of the things we will be doing……helping children from the busses to their classrooms, helping in the drop off/pick up areas for those who don’t ride the bus and answering some of the many questions parents and students will have!  Volunteers will be contacted during the month of August to finalize plans.
